Baobab Camp
A quiet forest stop for travellers crossing Europe
Facilities
What's on site
Pitches
Grass, with trees around them. We keep the numbers low.
Hookup point
One shared point with power, water and drainage.
Bathrooms
Three: two reached from outside, one indoors. Two have hot showers.
Kitchen
Fridge, oven, hob, dishwasher and a bean-to-cup coffee machine.
Wi-Fi
Free, and fast enough for video calls.
Campfire
A fire spot under the pavilion. Not in strong wind - the forest is close.
Laundry
Washing machine and dryer in the common house.
Common room
A long table, an extendable sofa, a shelf of board games, air conditioning.
Covered pavilion
A roof on posts, open on all sides, with the fire spot underneath.
The sauna
Wood-fired, with a cold plunge from the well.
The stove burns wood, so it takes a while to heat up. We light it and keep it going.
Next to it there is a cold plunge bath, a shower and a bucket. The water comes from our own well, so it is cold all year round.
Three or four people fit. We don't book it exclusively, so on a busy evening you may be sharing.

What to expect
Before you book
You can sometimes hear the road
Although Baobab Camp is surrounded by forest and located about one kilometre from National Road 50, we believe in being completely honest with our guests. Most of the time, the only sounds you will hear are birds singing, the wind in the trees and the occasional owl at night. However, depending on the wind direction, traffic noise from the road can sometimes be heard. It doesn't happen often, but we'd rather set realistic expectations than promise something that nature doesn't always allow us to control.
A small, quiet site
Baobab Camp is intentionally small and peaceful. It is not a holiday resort or an entertainment venue. It is a place for people who enjoy reading beneath the trees, listening to birds instead of loud music, sharing a quiet evening around the campfire and waking up to the sounds of the forest.
Guests aged 15 and over
To help preserve this atmosphere, Baobab Camp is for guests aged 15 and over. This policy simply reflects the character of our camp and helps us provide the peaceful environment that our guests choose us for.
